World Sanskrit Day Celebration at KLS IMER
KLS IMER organized a special session on 19th August 2024 to celebrate World Sanskrit Day, aimed at fostering an appreciation for Sanskrit and its cultural significance. Dr. Shailaja Hiremath, Associate Professor, led the session, highlighting the richness of Sanskrit as a language and its pivotal role in unlocking the vast knowledge of ancient Indian literature and philosophy.
With her expertise, having completed a Certificate Course in Sanskrit from IIT Kharagpur, Dr. Hiremath enlightened the students about the importance of Sanskrit in preserving India's intellectual and spiritual heritage. She emphasized how understanding the language provides access to ancient texts in fields like science, mathematics, astronomy, and metaphysics, demonstrating its relevance even in modern times.
The students actively participated in the session, expressing their enthusiasm and deep appreciation for the linguistic and cultural insights offered. The celebration not only enhanced their awareness of the language but also rekindled their curiosity about India's knowledge traditions. Dr. George Rodrigues, Assistant Physical Director at KLS IMER coordinated the session as a part of a course Indian Knowledge System offered to 2nd Semester MBA students.
