KLS Institute of Management Education and Research (KLS IMER), Autonomous, organized a One week National Industry Tour from (17th May to 23rd May 2026 )to Keralam for its 4th Semester MBA students, providing an enriching blend of industry exposure, cultural learning, and experiential education.

The tour covered prominent destinations including Fort Kochi, Indo-Portuguese Museum, Jew Town, spice markets, Munnar, Thekkady, Idukki, and Alleppey. Students gained practical insights into hydel power generation and water resource management at Mattupetty Dam, eco-tourism and biodiversity conservation at Eravikulam National Park and Eco Point, and tea plantation management, branding, and agri-business operations at the Tea Museum and Kannan Devan Hills Plantation Company Pvt. Ltd.

The visit to Thekkady’s Spice Garden enabled students to understand spice trade networks and medicinal plant applications, while the Coir Board Museum offered exposure to rural industries, value addition, and export opportunities. Students also experienced Keralam’s tourism economy through the famous Alleppey backwater cruise.

The tour further exposed students to Keralam ’s rich heritage through visits to historic and cultural landmarks, along with demonstrations of the traditional martial art Kalaripayattu. The initiative transformed Kerala’s landscapes into live management classrooms by integrating industry, ecology, culture, and entrepreneurship.

The National Industry Tour was coordinated by Dr. Shailaja Hiremath, Prof. Rahul Mailcontractor, Prof. Sumanth Desai, and Prof. Rashmi Harti. The Management of KLS Institute of Management Education and Research and Director Dr. Arif Shaikh appreciated and supported the initiative for ensuring immersive and experiential learning for MBA students.
