KLS Institute of Management Education and Research, Belagavi organised a field visit to Jai Kissan Wholesale Vegetable Market and Belagavi Wholesale Fruit Market for the students of Rural Marketing course, which was held over a period of two days. The main aim of the visit was to help students understand how the wholesale agricultural market of Belagavi operates and thereby see how efficient these markets are, from the beginning to the end.

Wholesale markets are key contributors to rural economy and agricultural supply chains, and hence, they are crucial. During the visit, the students were able to learn about various aspects like the stakeholders involved, their margins, price fluctuations of different vegetables and fruits and the causes behind them. They even learned how the auctions work and observed how modern technology is gradually being integrated into the system. This study implied that students were able to get hands-on experience on the whole process.

The visit was followed by presentations wherein every student presented their views, reflecting on what they had learned. These visits made sure that students could get a better view on the theoretical lessons by personally analysing market systems and getting in-depth knowledge of the markets. The entire visit was successfully organised by Dr. Sushil Kumar Pare, Professor at KLS IMER, who played an instrumental role in ensuring that students gained maximum value from the experience.
